Cookie policy
This information is provided pursuant to Article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council, in accordance with the provisions of Italian Legislative Decree no. 196/2003 as amended, the Italian Data Protection Authority Provision no. 231 of June 10, 2021, as well as Directive 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are text strings that websites (so-called publishers or “first parties”) visited by the user, or different websites or web servers (so-called “third parties”), place and store — directly, in the case of publishers, and indirectly through them, in the case of third parties — on a terminal device available to the user.
The devices referred to include, for example, computers, tablets, smartphones, or any other device capable of storing information.
Internet browsing software and the operation of these devices, such as browsers, can store cookies and then retransmit them to the websites that generated them during subsequent visits by the same user, thus retaining memory of previous interactions with one or more websites.
Information encoded in cookies may include personal data such as an IP address, username, unique identifier, or email address, but may also contain non-personal data such as language settings or information about the type of device being used to browse the site.
Cookies therefore perform important and various functions, including session monitoring, storing information on specific user configurations, facilitating the use of online content, and more. They may be used to keep track of items in an online shopping cart or information used to complete online forms.
Through cookies, web pages can load more quickly and route information over a network in compliance with operational requirements strictly connected to the functioning of websites. Cookies can also be used to deliver behavioural advertising and measure the effectiveness of advertising messages, as well as tailor the type and mode of services provided according to the user’s previously observed behaviour.
Types of Cookies
Italian legislation (Article 122 of Legislative Decree 196/03 – “Personal Data Protection Code”, hereinafter referred to as the “Privacy Code”) introduced into the Italian legal system Directive 2009/136/EC, which requires website operators using cookies or other tracking technologies to inform users about the types of cookies used by the website.
With Provision no. 231 of June 10, 2021, published in the Official Gazette no. 163 of July 9, 2021, the Italian Data Protection Authority divided cookies into two macro-categories: “technical” cookies and “non-technical” cookies.
Technical Cookies
These are installed by the website owner or operator for the purpose of transmitting a communication over an electronic communications network or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such service.
The installation of Technical Cookies does not require prior user consent.
First-Party and Third-Party Analytics Cookies
Analytics cookies are considered equivalent to technical cookies only if:
- They are used solely to produce aggregate statistics related to a single website or mobile application;
- For third-party cookies, at least the fourth component of the IP address is masked;
- Third parties refrain from combining minimized analytics cookies with other processing activities or transmitting them to further third parties.
Third parties may however produce statistics relating to multiple domains, websites, or mobile applications attributable to the same publisher or corporate group.
Non-Technical Cookies
These cookies are used to associate specific actions or recurring behavioural patterns with identified or identifiable subjects in order to group profiles into homogeneous clusters of varying sizes, allowing services to be increasingly personalized and enabling the sending of targeted advertising messages consistent with user preferences expressed during online browsing.
Article 122 of the Privacy Code states that the storage of information on a user’s terminal device or access to information already stored is permitted only if the user has provided consent after being informed according to the simplified procedures set out in Article 13 of the Privacy Code.
First-Party Cookies
These are managed directly by the website owner. For these cookies, the website owner is responsible for providing the information notice and indicating how cookies can be blocked.
Third-Party Cookies
These are managed by a third party other than the website owner. For these cookies, the third party is responsible for providing the information notice and instructions on how cookies may be blocked. The website owner must provide the URL where such information is available.
In both cases (first-party or third-party cookies), consent collection — where required for profiling cookies — takes place through a dedicated banner displayed on the website homepage.
Types of Cookies Used on This Website
This website uses technical cookies, which may be used without requesting the consent of the Data Subject, as they are strictly necessary for the provision of the service.
In addition, third-party profiling cookies may be used, whose use is subject to consent provided directly to such third parties by accessing their respective cookie policies.
Profiling cookies may be used by the Data Controller or the cookie owner to store user preferences, provide customized or optimized features, or record browsing habits and preferences.
For example, profiling cookies may be used to offer online services, send advertising based on user interests, or prevent services previously rejected by the user from being offered again.
The following section of this Cookie Policy provides detailed information about all cookies used by this website.
The first group lists technical cookies, whose use does not require user consent.
The second group lists profiling cookies.
For both groups, the following information is provided for each cookie:
- Cookie name
- Purpose of the cookie
- Expiration or session duration
- Whether the cookie is first-party or third-party
- If the cookie is third-party, a link to the third party’s cookie policy explaining the processing of personal data collected through the cookie and instructions for blocking the cookie
